(c) Players whose FIDE registration is something other than one of the above countries must be ECF Silver members.
Where a player has no FIDE registration, then they must choose a Federation, and the relevant rule of (a), (b) or (c) above will apply.
(a) Players resident in England or Isle of Man must be ECF Silver members.
(b) Players resident in Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Guernsey or Jersey do not need to be ECF Silver members.
(c) Players resident in any other country outside the British Isles must be ECF Silver members.
The ECF's Obligations
If the conditions above are met, then the ECF will:-
(a) ECF-grade or FIDE-rate the event as appropriate for the relevant section, as normal.
(b) Not charge any Pay to Play charges in respect of the event.
This is a change from the present arrangements, where the ECF invoices your tournament as if it were just another Rapidplay tournament.
NB. The above only applies to the 4 main tournaments - NOT the Junior tournaments
Grades will be accepted in this order of preference
Any other grading body.
However grades based on a small number of games will be ignored in preference to another grading body which used a much larger number of games to create its grade.
The grader’s decision in all such matters is final.
Use this formula to convert ECF grades to FIDE
FIDE = (ECF x 7.5) + 700
